With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, Beauty and the Beast has become Broadway’s eighth longest running production in history as it premiered in 1993 in Houston, Texas, in a production with both Theatre Under the Stars and Disney Theatricals at the Music Hall, but opened on Broadway in 1994 at the Palace Theatre. The long running show has had a Broadway production, a West End London Production, three US national tours, and a UK National tour, as well as productions in Los Angeles, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. The original Broadway cast included talents like Terence Mann, Susan Egan, Burke Moses, Gary Beach, Heath Lamberts, Tom Bosley and Beth Fowler. The musical is on its fourth national US Tour.
