When Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott formed their country music group in Nashville in 2006, little did they know in just a few short years they’d be a smash hit! Lady Antelbellum is a country music trio that made its debut in 2007 as guest vocalists on Jim Brickman’s single “Never Alone”. Scott is the daughter of country music singer Linda Davis, and Kelley is the brother of pop artist Josh Kelley, which no doubt helped to a launch the band initially. Kelley and Haywood had been middle-school classmates and in 2005 Kelley convinced Haywood to move to Nashville with him to write music. There they connected with Scott at a Nashville music club and formed the group. The name Antebellum comes from when the group was photographing old southern “antebellum” homes and gleaned inspiration. Scott claims that when she was trying to launch her career, she auditioned for American Idol twice and did not make it past the first round either time. They’ve been signed with Capitol Records since 2007, and released “Love Don’t Live Here” off of their self-titled album, which would peak at #3 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 2008. Another hit “I Run to You” became another hit song in 2009. Their biggest hit “Need You Now” was released in mid-2009 and the album was released in 2010. Lady Antebellum was award Top New Duo or Group in 2009 by the Academy of Country Music, New Artist of the Year in 2008 by the Country Music Association, and nominated for two Grammy awards in 2009 and took home an award for Best Country Performance by Duo or Group with Vocals for “I Run to You”.
