RAIN is a tribute show to the Beatles, which began as an offshoot of the Broadway production Beatlemania. RAIN is currently the highest grossing act of its kind and has even performed on a PBS television special, which premired nationwide. After a successful European tour, they started a North American tour. Cast members include Joey Curatolo, Graham Alexander, Robert "Mac" Ruffing, Ralph Castelli, Joe Bologna, Doug Cox, Joe Bithorn, Tom Teeley, Jimmy Pou, Steve Landes, David Leon, Jim Irizarry, Tim Piper, Mark Lewis, Mark Beyer, and Chris Smallwood. Cast members are often switched and swapped depending on the show. The original members of RAIN began as a club band in the 70’s, and at that time they were actually called “Reign”, but changed the name to the more familiar RAIN. They played a set of Beatles tunes and circled the club circuit of the west coast in California. Mark Lewis, the keyboardist is the only current member who has been with the band since this time. The original members were all native to Orange County, namely Eddie Lineberry, Chuck Coffey, William Conneary, and Grant Belotti. All of these members were recruited for the 1979 film “Birth of the Beatles”, from Dick Clark. They also headlined at Disney’s Tomorrowland Terrace in the early 1980’s. Although no affiliation with the Broadway production of Beatlemania, after the first run of that production, cast members of Beatlemania began joining RAIN, and thus made it an offshoot of the Broadway show. Currently, “RAIN” is set to begin performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in January 2011.
