This country music duo, comprised of singer-songwriters Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, was founded in 2002. Nettles is the lead vocalist and Bush does background vocals, mandolin, acoustic guitar, and harmonica. Starting out as regulars in folk-rock scene in Atlanta, Georgia in the 1990’s before Sugarland was formed, the trio often played at Eddie’s Attick in Decatur. Their debut album after signing with Mercury Nashiville Records in 2004 was Twice the Speed of Life, and it went multi platinum, with the lead single “Baby Girl” peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. Since their breakthrough, and since Kristen Hall left the group, they were nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy’s and performed there in 2006. The new duo released their second album Enjoy the Ride in 2006, and their third Love on the Inside in 2008. They received three Grammy Award nominations for this album and won awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Performance by a duo or group. They also began touring this album in Europe and received two nominations from the Academy of Country Music. And now they’ve begun touring their album The Incredible Machine and have made several appearances and performances thus far in 2010.
