The Cure
An English gothic rock band, The Cure has had several line-up changes, with frontman only consistent member, vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, Robert Smith. The band was one of the pioneering elements of the post-punk and New Wave movement that began after the punk rock revolution in the UK. They even used dark, bleak imagery to bring gothic rock to life as a genre of music. They began making music in the late 70’s with the album Three Imaginary Boys. After releasing the mournful album Faith. The band then set out on a second global trek, named “The Picture Tour,” during which they released the non-album single “Charlotte Sometimes.” In 1982 The Cure went back into the studio, and their increasingly ugly fascination with despair and decay resulted in the album Pornography. An intensely volatile tour ensued, and the single “The Hanging Garden” was released. After that, Smith was eager to lose the gloomy rep they had garnered and in 1982 began incorporating more pop beats and melodies into songs like Let’s Go to Bed, Just like Heaven, Lovesong, and Friday I’m in Love. Consequently, they became extremely popular in the US and those singles put them on the top of the Billboard charts.
By the start of the 1990s, The Cure were one of the most popular alternative rock bands in the world. The band is estimated to have sold 27 million albums as of 2004. The Cure have released thirteen studio albums, sold 27 milions albums (as of 2004), 10 EPs and over thirty singles during the course of their career. Since 2010, they have been working on a fourteenth studio album. Get your tickets to see The Cure on their latest tour right here at Prominent Ticket Service!
